Medical Assistant II - Cardiology

Location: 13100 E. 136th St., Suite 3000, Fishers, IN 46037. Free onsite parking.

Schedule

Full-Time, Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and prepare them for visits
  • Obtain and document patient information
  • Perform EKGs
  • Assist with obtaining patient medical records
  • Support cardiac clearance processes
  • Schedule patients as needed
  • Collaborate with providers and team members to ensure efficient patient flow
  • Approximately 70% of time spent in direct patient care; 30% in administrative tasks
  • Perform duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction under supervision
  • Assure completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, maintain smooth patient flow
  • Perform general lab work and instruct patients concerning procedures, treatments, and needs
  • Ensure medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and timely
  • Perform registration and scheduling activities per organizational procedures
  • Maintain EMR files and perform general front office functions as needed
  • May perform computerized physician order entry if directed by assigned physician
  • Precept current MA team members or MA externs as requested by leadership

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required
  • Current certification in medical assisting from AAMA (CMA), AMT (RMA), NHA (CCMA), NCCT (NCMA), and/or AMCA (CMAC)
  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, ADA, ICD-10, and CPT coding required
  • TB validation (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work Programs within 6 months of hire
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
  • Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care, and Skills Competency checklists
  • Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills
