About the role
This role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers.
- Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
- Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms.
- Acts as a liaison with other departments and advocates for patients with a positive customer service approach.
- Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred.
- Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support [BLS Certification], Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification].
- Experience: Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to prioritize tasks, accuracy and attention to detail, compliance with privacy and confidentiality rules, ability to take vital signs and collect specimens, comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, proficiency in EHR systems, ability to manage time and others, physical requirements standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, gross manipulation, fine manipulation, feeling, remote typing, far vision, near vision, talking, hearing.
