Medical Assistant I - Eastbrook Family Health Center

About the role

Responsible for providing assistance with various health care services, obtaining specimens, conducting routine lab studies, and assisting with administrative functions such as coordinating patient flow and scheduling appointments and phone messages. The Medical Assistant will room patients, collect vitals, perform point-of-care testing and phlebotomy, administer vaccines, assist with minor in-house procedures, and handle chart prep and other administrative duties. The role requires strong time management and critical thinking, and the ability to work both as part of a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance with various health care services
• Obtain specimens
• Conduct routine lab studies of specimens
• Assist with administrative functions (coordinating patient flow, scheduling appointments, handling phone messages)
• Room patients
• Collect vitals
• Perform point-of-care testing
• Perform phlebotomy
• Administer vaccines
• Assist with minor in-house procedures
• Chart prep and other administrative duties

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through a Penn State Health approved agency for Medical Assistants within 90 days of employment, OR current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through a Penn State Health approved agency
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, or must obtain BLS certification within 6 months of employment

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
• Previous outpatient experience preferred
