Medical Assistant I

About the role

Vera Whole Health is seeking a reliable, patient-focused Medical Assistant II to support our busy primary care clinic with three providers. This role offers a blend of clinical and front-office responsibilities, providing hands-on patient care while ensuring smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vital signs
• Perform phlebotomy, injections, and specimen collection
• Absorb physicals and occupational health services
• Absorb medication refill workflows
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment
• Provide patient education and ensure a welcoming, supportive experience
• Rotate between clinical and administrative duties
• Check patients in/out and verify insurance
• Schedule appointments and manage patient flow
• Handle phone calls, messages, and patient inquiries
• Support providers with documentation and follow-up tasks
• Support internal medicine, urgent care, and occupational health workflows
• Maintain compliance with infection control and safety standards

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant (primary care, urgent care, internal medicine, or occupational health preferred)
• Phlebotomy and injection experience required
• Strong customer service skills and patient-centered approach
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy clinic
• EMR experience; Athena experience is a plus
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
• Certification not required
