Medical Assistant, Hillsboro Neurology, $3,000 Bonus, FT, 8:30A-5P

About the role

Works under the clinical supervision of the practice physician(s) and clinic supervisor/manager and is responsible for assisting the physicians in the practice. Assists in examination and treatment of patients, rooms patients and obtains information, measures vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, pulse oximeter, pain level, weight, and height), and records information on patients' charts/Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Also collects and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
• Room patients and gather required information.
• Measure and record vital signs, including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, pain level, weight, and height.
• Document patient information in the EMR.
• Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Maintain HIPAA and OSHA compliance.
• Provide compassionate customer service and uphold high ethical standards.
• Operate efficiently in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment.
• Utilize computer applications, typing, and EMR systems proficiently.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Licenses & Certifications (must have at least one):
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Paramedic
  • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required for all
  • Registered Medical Assistant
• Additional Qualifications:
  • Medical Assistants with a Certificate or Diploma of Completion of a Medical Assistant training program hired after 7/1/16 (or foreign medical doctor hired after 5/1/17) must obtain Medical Assistant Certification within six months of employment.
  • Effective 11/3/17, foreign medical doctors with a foreign medical doctor diploma are no longer eligible for the Medical Assistant role.
  • For Primary Care Practices, EKG and Phlebotomy certifications are required for employees holding a CNA license only.
  • CNA, LPN, and EMT licenses must be issued by the State of Florida.
  • Professional, organized, detail‑oriented team player with strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Compassionate demeanor, excellent customer service skills, and high ethical standards.
  • Knowledge of health‑care regulatory guidelines and medical terminology is a plus.
  • Bilingual ability preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience strongly preferred.

Pay

Estimated pay range: $20.42 – $28.16 per hour, depending on experience.
Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $3,000.
