About the role

The Medical Assistant will support various providers, advanced providers, and registered nurses to provide excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will communicate with patients and perform clinical services to ensure high quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Work schedule is Monday: 8:00 am-12:00 pm, Tuesday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm, & Saturday: 8:00 am-12:00 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care
    • Communicates and performs clinical care services with patients
    • Takes patient vital signs and obtains patient intake information
    • Performs clinical procedures such as blood draws, vaccines, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, and EKGs
    • Discusses patient needs and provides education and resources to patients directly
    • Ensures exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and set up for examinations and procedures
  • Provider and Team Support
    • Captures provider workflow to ensure efficient patient care
    • Ensures provider has all pertinent information required for each patient visit including diagnostic images, labs and required screenings
    • Aids other providers and care teams in women’s health, pediatrics and general medicine departments as needed
  • Clinical Administration
    • Utilizes electronic health records to order, process and document clinical treatment plans for patient as directed by the provider
    • Conveys information to patients via telephone or email under the direction of a provider or Registered Nurse
    • Provides patient with requested documents after review to ensure forms are complete, accurate and executed by the provider
    • Completes ongoing/annual training for position compliance

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Valid Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited program required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment. These courses must follow AHA guidelines- may be completed through approved online providers such as ProMed or other equivalent programs that meet recognized BLS standards
  • One year medical assistant experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
  • Familiarity with medical procedures and terminology
  • Proficiency with electronic health records system experience preferred
  • Intermediate computer and data entry skills
  • Must use sound judgment to anticipate needs of patients and providers
  • Flexibility with changing priorities and time sensitive deadlines
  • Use emotional and cultural intelligence to provide appropriate communication and patient care
  • Exemplify compassion to patients and team members
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner

Pay

Pay Range: $24.95 - 34.93 per hour, depending on experience
