Medical Assistant - Full Time - 4th St Primary Care (may be eligible for $1,000 sign on bonus)

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • College level coursework in the delivery of care in a medical clinic preferred.
  • Medical Assistant certification as recognized by The Medical Board of California or a nationally recognized certification agency.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program including a clinical externship.
  • One year of recent Medical Assistant experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency in clinical skills and office procedures.
  • Computer and keyboard experience, including charting in electronic medical records.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, flexible, and strong sense of teamwork.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, in compliance with patient safety standards.
  • Bilingual abilities preferred.
  • Working knowledge of quality improvement measures and the Patient-Centered Medical Home.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently walks, stands, sits, talks or hears.
  • Occasionally uses hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; reaches with hands and arms.
  • Sometimes climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, or crouches for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, adequate near and distant vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients.

Working Conditions

  • Routine Hospital/Healthcare & Office/Administrative conditions.
  • Contact with patients and guests under a wide variety of circumstances.
  • Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases.
  • Exposure to infections and contagious disease.
  • Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and waste.
  • Subject to hazards of flammable and explosive gases.
  • Exposed to varying and unpredictable situations, including the handling of urgent, emergent or crisis situations.
  • Subject to pressure due to irregular hours, (Urgent Care: weekend hours, holiday hours) frequent interruptions and stressful situations due to multiple demands.
  • Occasional travel to various health system locations.
