Medical Assistant - FT - Vascular Associates - Florence

Responsibilities

• Affords patients with a thorough assessment based on information gathered from history, observation, physical exam, telephone triage, and analysis of diagnostic results.
• Executes direct patient care tasks, including triage, assessment, procedures, treatments, patient education, discharge, and follow-up instructions.
• Prepares patients for visits with the provider and documents pertinent information through communication with patients and their families, including vital signs, history, and chief complaints.
• Prepares and documents charts, scans necessary documents into patient records, and performs specialized tests such as electrocardiography, pulmonary function tests, sleep studies, Holter monitors, and selected laboratory procedures as needed.
• Administers medications as directed by the physician and assists with treatments and procedures as required.
• Schedules testing and referral appointments for patients as instructed by the provider and consults with patients on telephone calls regarding their issues or referrals.
• Follows up with patients as necessary and cleans and straightens examination rooms according to OSHA standards.
• Maintains medical supply inventory, checks medication and vaccine expiration dates, and disposes of outdated medications.
• Keeps abreast of new equipment and technology needed to perform duties and schedules and reschedules appointments as needed.
• Encourages patients to use MyChart for communication with McLeod Health and promotes the use of this platform.
• Contributes to a positive work environment by fostering a culture of learning and actively participating in departmental quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
