Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Schedule patient appointments accurately and efficiently using electronic scheduling systems.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and medical history during registration.
- Collect co-payments, deductibles, and outstanding balances from patients in a timely manner.
- Answer phone calls and inquiries from patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
- Aid physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by the healthcare provider.
- Cleaning and preparing patient rooms, equipment, and tools.
- Updating patient charts and tracking paperwork.
- Documenting patient plan(s) of care, tests, and examination results in the EMR.
- Cook up referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers as directed by physicians.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in all interactions.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and support staff to ensure patient satisfaction and continuity of care.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned, such as filing, scanning, and data entry.
Qualifications
- 1 year of Medical Assistant or front desk experience
- Experience with EMR systems
- Certificate of completion from an accredited Medical Assistant (RMA or CMA) program
