As a Medical Assistant, you will support the clinical team to ensure patients receive the best care. Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care under the direction of a clinician, assisting in gathering information relevant to the patient’s visit and condition.
  • Communicate clearly with patients through various modalities, including telephone and in-person interactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive patient care, emphasizing attention to detail and follow-through.

Requirements

  • Proof of completion of a Medical Assistant program or at least one year of Medical Assistant work experience or a current active and in good standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in the state of Utah.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers (must be obtained prior to the start date).
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills, including word processing and data entry.
  • Professional manner with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with patients and caregivers to deliver high levels of customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Commitment to protecting patient privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI).

Utah Only: If certified with less than one year of Medical Assistant experience, caregivers may attend a yearlong MA residency program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
  • Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and relevant software.
  • Current national MA certification from one of the following: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent verbal communication with providers, patients, and visitors, including understanding spoken information, alarms, and needs, especially during emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity for complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation.
  • Ability to lift and use full range of motion to transfer patients, bend to retrieve and carry supplies, and lift heavy items.
  • Walking and assisting with transporting/ambulating patients, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
  • Navigating crowded and busy rooms with equipment and power cords.
  • Standing in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • For roles requiring driving: Ability to drive a vehicle, including sitting, seeing, and reading signs and traffic signals.

Schedule

This is an on-call, as-needed position requiring at least one day of work per week, with the potential to work up to three shifts depending on clinic needs.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $20.07 - $28.59, with the actual rate dependent on experience.
