Job Description
The Medical Assistant reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
- Accurately obtains and documents vital signs, allergies, smoking history, and pharmacy information.
- Prepares and cleans exam rooms, and sets up equipment and supplies for patient visits.
- Assists with medical and surgical procedures, including ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, and CLIA-waived testing.
- Communicates with patients and the patient care team, offering assistance and maintaining patient satisfaction.
- Adheres to office opening and closing procedures, and maintains vaccine and medication inventory.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current certification in one of the following: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA).
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred.
- One to two years of ambulatory care experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills.
