About the role
The Mass General Brigham Medical Group is a system-led operating entity within Mass General Brigham, dedicated to providing high-quality, low-cost, innovative community-based ambulatory care. This role supports the WDH Head and Neck Specialty located at 361 High Street, Somersworth, New Hampshire.
Responsibilities
- Takes vital signs, documents patient information, schedules appointments, and manages patient flow.
- Interviews patients to obtain medical information, measures vital signs, weight, and height, and records information in the patient's medical record.
- Explains treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, and orders and organizes educational materials.
- Prepares necessary equipment for healthcare providers, assists with disinfection and sterile processing, and performs phlebotomy if competent.
- Maintains inventory of immunizations and checks expiration dates, provides immunizations (as applicable), and improves appropriate departmental quality initiatives.
- Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities, and facilitates their learning through onboarding training.
- Supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
- Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required.
- Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - preferred.

- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Compliance with local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
- Logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
- Time management and ability to manage others' time.
