Responsibilities

  • Room patients and document intake.
  • Obtain and record vital signs.
  • Organize patient flow.
  • Setup procedure tray, instruments, and equipment according to instructions.
  • Absorb and prepare for dermatology procedures.
  • Prepare Path/lab specimens, route to correct lab directed by patient insurance plan.
  • Respond to patient questions in office and on phone as instructed.
  • Review and address clinical task lists and nurse line messages.
  • Calibrate, clean, sterilize and inventory all equipment & instruments according to schedule.
  • Maintain medication supplies, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records.
  • Maintain infection control and make sure supply rooms and cabinets are stocked.
  • Order, sort, restock and inventory of all supplies.
  • Accurately document patient information and scribe provider notes in the EMR.
  • Absorb and assist with administration of local anesthetic.
  • Ensure all phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail are addressed in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Able to triage patient concerns.
  • Be familiar with and compliant OSHA/HIPAA, infection control & Blood Borne Pathogen Standards.
  • Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments.
  • Experience administering injections.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes.
  • Knowledge of office financial policies.
  • Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization.
  • Able to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Able to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Able to work in an effective, cooperative, and courteous manner with staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Must be able to travel to satellite offices as needed.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
  • Able to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
  • Able to spell, sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Risk of exposure to infectious organisms and the possibility of injury due to chemicals and sharp objects.
