Medical Assistant, Dermatology - Full-Time, Days
About the role
This position is a 100% onsite opportunity at UChicago Medicine's Dermatology team in the South Loop clinic. The clinic offers comprehensive adult and pediatric primary care and specialty care in a vibrant neighborhood near downtown Chicago.
Responsibilities
- Assist with a range of clinical and administrative tasks such as administering vaccines, conducting EKGs, recording vital signs, maintaining accurate patient records, and collaborating with the healthcare team to enhance patient care.
- Perform tests, including pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and hemocults, specific to the patient population.
- Document all aspects of patient care according to hospital policies and procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy services and assist with collection of specimens.
- Label and log specimens in compliance with hospital standards.
Requirements
- A completed High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited body.
- A current certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
- Experience working in a community health setting.
- Completion of a certified/registered program for medical assistants that is recognized by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- A graduate of a certified program for Medical Assistants (CMA credential).
Qualifications
- Considerable skill in communicating verbally, in determining priorities and in organizing work.
- Ability to maintain an organized, alphabetized filing system.
- General working knowledge of PC. Excel, Microsoft Word for windows, OASIS and EPIC.
- Computerized appointment scheduling experience.
- Significant skill in handling sensitive public contacts with discretion, tact and courtesy.
Skills
- Physical ability to perform stocking, lifting, and transporting supplies and instruments.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis.

Pay
Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
Schedule
We anticipate that you will generally work approximately 40 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the Day shift, from approximately 7:30 am - 6 pm and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts. We anticipate you will be scheduled to work 100% at the South Loop Clinic. The days of the week that you are scheduled will be Monday - Friday.
