Job Description
The Medical Assistant works a consistent schedule of 2 days per week, Thursdays and Fridays, in Naperville.
Responsibilities
- Accurately escorts patients to exam rooms and identifies them using two identifiers.
- Prepares patients for examinations by obtaining accurate vital signs and documenting necessary information.
- Notifies providers and nurses of any significant changes in vital signs or acute symptoms.
- Anticipates and sets up equipment or supplies needed for each visit.
- Cleans and prepares exam rooms for the next patient.
- Responds to patient needs to expedite visits and prioritize tasks.
- Assists practitioners with medical and surgical procedures as per established protocols.
- Performs administrative tasks such as preparing and stocking exam rooms, maintaining equipment, and ordering supplies.
- Communicates professionally and effectively with patients and the patient care team.
- Performs delegated procedures in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current certification in one of the following or written proof of eligibility to write one of the five eligible certification exams (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, NRCMA).
- Within the first six months of employment, complete one of the following certifications after up to two test attempts:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) through the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- Accepted documentation: American Heart Association accredited Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
- Zero to two years of experience in a relevant role.
- Strong computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
- One to two years of ambulatory care experience.
- Experience with electronic medical records.
