Responsibilities
- Take patient's vital signs.
- Prepare patients for the provider's care.
- Assist with patient examinations or treatments.
- Correctly document all entries in the medical record, either electronic or hard copy, to include signature, date and time.
- Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of licensed physician.
- Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms.
- Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
- Administer basic first aid.
- Participates in performance improvement projects.
- Participates as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care.
- Provides a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service for patients, staff members, and other customers.
Qualifications
High School Diploma / GED required at time of hire.
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required – or within 6 months.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire – American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Medical Terminology Certificate preferred at time of hire.
- Completion of an MA program accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agency approved by the board.
Preferred Experience
- 1 year – Medical assistant – preferred.
- 2–4 years clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a health care related industry – preferred.
- 1 year experience with third party payors, and computer experience for inputting data and reviewing – preferred.
Additional Duties
- May travel to other clinics.
- Additional duties as assigned may vary.
