Medical Assistant/CSR-Pediatric Cardiology-Full-Time-Days

Responsibilities

  • Take patient's vital signs.
  • Prepare patients for the provider's care.
  • Assist with patient examinations or treatments.
  • Correctly document all entries in the medical record, either electronic or hard copy, to include signature, date and time.
  • Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of licensed physician.
  • Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms.
  • Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
  • Administer basic first aid.
  • Participates in performance improvement projects.
  • Participates as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care.
  • Provides a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service for patients, staff members, and other customers.

Qualifications

High School Diploma / GED required at time of hire.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required – or within 6 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire – American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Medical Terminology Certificate preferred at time of hire.
  • Completion of an MA program accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agency approved by the board.

Preferred Experience

  • 1 year – Medical assistant – preferred.
  • 2–4 years clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a health care related industry – preferred.
  • 1 year experience with third party payors, and computer experience for inputting data and reviewing – preferred.

Additional Duties

  • May travel to other clinics.
  • Additional duties as assigned may vary.
