About the Role

Keck Medicine of USC partners with the Culinary Health Fund to provide integrated, patient-centered care at Culinary Health Centers in the Las Vegas Valley. This role supports physicians and ensures smooth clinic operations in a community-focused setting.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examinations by obtaining and recording vital signs and medication lists.
  • Monitor patient flow and assist physicians with minor clinical procedures, including EKGs.
  • Schedule diagnostic tests as ordered by the physician.
  • Prepare patient charts with pertinent medical information, including x-rays and lab work, and arrange for special equipment as needed.
  • Set up and maintain exam rooms, ensuring they are stocked, organized, cleaned, and disinfected.
  • Perform venipuncture or capillary blood draws for testing, screen specimens for acceptability, and process/distribute specimens.
  • Maintain files, records, and office supply inventory; handle photocopying, faxing, mailing, and prioritizing incoming mail.
  • Implement physician orders for medications and treatments, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission standards.
  • Provide coverage for co-workers and communicate patient status during transitions.
  • Uphold patient privacy, safety, and confidentiality; maintain a safe environment in accordance with policies and infection control regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) certification (if applicable; must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • Current Medical Laboratory Personnel License – NV (must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not already certified).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in an acute care setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with word processing, GECB, COR, Cerner, ProSolv, and scheduling software.

Pay

The hourly rate range for this position is $21.00 - $27.01. When extending an offer, factors such as scope of responsibilities, candidate experience, education/training, key skills, internal equity, and external market considerations are taken into account.
