Major Job Responsibilities

  • Able to process patients for examination by the provider by obtaining vital signs and history. Documents the encounter in the EMR.
  • Affords assistance to provider/nursing staff with procedures and treatments as necessary. Gives injections, administers oral medications, and performs limited treatments as indicated by, and under the supervision of the provider.
  • Absorbs information for patient appointments; such as labs, hospital reports, referrals and notes. Completes office forms and documents. Assists in the maintenance of electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Keeps all treatment areas and nurse’s stations neat and clean at all times; orders all medical and clerical supplies and keeps the office stocked within designated par levels; cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization as necessary.
  • Answers incoming phone calls and transfers the calls as needed. Takes prescription (RX) messages, identifies and verifies information needed to schedule appointment requests. Assists with follow appointments or referrals.
  • Works to help our patients and family members have a good experience. Takes initiative in problem solving, maintains confidentiality of patient and company information, and interacts with patients, co-workers, and management in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • All other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a nine-month Medical Assistant course required.
  • CPR/BLS Card required.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates effective communication and telephone skills; computer literacy preferred.

  • Medical equipment – i.e. BP cuff, pulse oximetry, EKG machine, glucometer, wheelchair.
