About the role

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides direct and indirect patient care in ambulatory settings under the supervision of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, RNs, or LPNs. This role supports the delivery of safe, efficient, and age-appropriate care by assisting with exams, procedures, screenings, and documentation, while ensuring compliance with state regulations and practice policies. CMAs also manage patient flow, maintain accurate medical records, perform basic laboratory and clinical tasks, administer medications, and educate patients on home care and assistive devices. As part of a collaborative, team-based model, the CMA contributes to quality improvement initiatives and helps optimize the overall patient experience. Located in Chattanooga, TN, the position operates on standard regular hours.

Responsibilities

• Deliver age-appropriate care across the lifespan.
• Assess patient data and identify individual needs.
• Provide care in accordance with unit policies and procedures.
• Support patient flow: scheduling, escorting to exam rooms, assisting with transfers, specimen collection, history-taking, and screenings.
• Assist providers and nurses with procedures, charting, patient/family instructions, and communication.
• Manage patient records and documentation.
• Obtain lab, imaging, and referral reports.
