Medical Assistant - Cardiology, Cleveland Hts/Main (float), 80 Hours

About the role

The MetroHealth System is seeking a Medical Assistant to support outpatient clinics in Cleveland Heights and Main Campus. This position works in an ambulatory setting and collaborates with various healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients and obtain pre-authorizations
• Register patients and gather/analyze payor data
• Perform basic medical screenings and vital signs
• Collect specimens, conduct EKGs, and assist with wound care
• Administer medications and vaccinations
• Support sterile and non-sterile procedures
• Assist with splinting and bandaging

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or military educational program with an honorable discharge
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or obtain within 90 days of hire
• Knowledge of basic medical procedures and terminology
• Critical thinking, decision-making, and organizational skills
• Basic computer and data entry skills
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program and relevant work experience
• Active certification as a CCMA, CMA, or RMA
• Experience in medical billing, patient registration, and scheduling
• Education related to medical billing, patient registration, and scheduling
• CHAA certification from NAHAM
• Experience with medication dosages and pediatric immunizations
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects with assistance
