Job Summary
As a Medical Assistant, you will provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Meet with patients and document basic medical history in the EMR system
- Triage patients
- Update medical records
- Cordination of care with specialists and other outside facilities
- Auxiliary during medical examinations
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
- Perform blood draws and prepare specimens for lab pick-ups
- Administer immunizations and injectables
- Check medication expiration dates per company policy
- Schedule appointments as needed
- Assist with answering the phones as needed
- Assist with coverage at other clinics when needed due to being short-staffed. Mileage reimbursement will apply when covering at other clinic locations.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
- Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism with a commitment to patient satisfaction
- Additional duties as assigned by management to support business needs
Qualifications/Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is required for this clinic location
- 2+ years’ experience as a medical assistant
- Proficiency in using an EMR, E-ClinicalWorks (eCW) experience is a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office management systems and procedures is strongly recommended
- Great time management and organization skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Social perceptiveness and service-oriented
- Innovative, motivated, and team player
- Ability to establish working relationships, resolve interpersonal conflicts, and apply basic staff etiquette in dealing with others
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to other clinics when support is needed
- Must possess close attention to detail
- Must be able to accommodate a flexible schedule, with the ability to work on weekends when necessary (based on clinic location)
- Aid in other clinics if needed (due to missing staff) mileage included
