About the role

The Medical Assistant will join our organization to provide comprehensive support to medical staff and ensure effective delivery of patient care. This position requires a compassionate professional who performs clinical and administrative duties with accuracy and efficiency, contributing to a welcoming environment for patients while supporting medical procedures and facilitating smooth clinical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for medical examinations and procedures
  • Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
  • Assist providers with tasks during patient visits
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and collect specimens as instructed
  • Administer medications and injections under supervision
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records and documentation
  • Maintain nursing stations and examination areas in compliance with OSHA standards
  • Answer and screen phone calls
  • Exhibit courtesy and poise when interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Perform X-Ray and EKG (training provided)
  • Assist Occupational Medicine staff with urine specimens as needed
  • Perform other related duties assigned by management

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six months of related experience in a medical setting
  • Must obtain and maintain BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong charting and documentation skills
  • Ability to understand and adhere to established policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a busy and complex environment
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within changing priorities
  • Bilingual skills are a plus

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Frequently required to walk, sit, and stand
  • Occasionally exposed to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
  • Occasionally required to travel for training and attend at least two community clinic events each year
