Medical Assistant

General Description

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their dedicated team. The role involves providing both administrative and clinical support in various patient-related tasks under the supervision of a provider.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Greeting patients promptly and professionally
• Aiding patients with the registration process including collecting required patient information, medical history, relevant documents, and electronic signatures
• Preparing the patient for the exam by performing preliminary tests, as needed
• Reporting relevant information to the provider
• Aiding the provider with patient care as requested
• Performing scribe duties, as needed
• Reviewing treatment procedures with patients
• Assisting in ordering tests/retrieving results
• Reviewing discharge instructions
• Bracing & brace measurements under the supervision of a licensed professional
• Collecting any patient payments and scheduling follow-up appointments, if required
• Balancing and closing a journal each day, when applicable
• Maintaining a high level of confidentiality and complying with HIPAA standards
• Performing other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• A Medical Assistance Certification or a degree in the sciences is preferred
• One to three years of experience in a medical setting is preferred
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential
• Strong data entry skills are required
• CPR/BLS certification is preferred
