About the role
Connecticut GI, a division of GI Alliance, is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join their Stamford Care Center. They are the largest gastroenterology practice in Connecticut with over 30 Care Centers and growing.
Responsibilities
- Providing Remarkable Patient Experience: Rooming patients, obtaining vital signs (blood pressure, height, and weight), and documenting accurately using Epic EMR.
- Attention to Detail: Updating patient’s medical history including updated medication lists.
- Team Player: Appropriately documenting all patient phone calls and informing patients of test results under the direction of the provider.
- Versatility: Familiarity with prior authorization process.
- Expertise: Asking appropriate triage questions and accurately recording in Epic.
Requirements
- Graduated from an Accredited MA Program (preferred)
- At least one full year of Medical Assistant experience
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
- Broad knowledge of medical terminology (1+ year of healthcare experience)
- EMR experience is ideal, Epic experience is a plus
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or college course in medical assisting.
- Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office. Experience working in a Gastroenterology practice is preferred.
- Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems.
- Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
- Skill in written and verbal communications.
- Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
- Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care practices and procedures.
- Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.

Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
