Description

The TEK’s/SE’s and library curriculum products will serve as the basis for instruction. Provide group and individual guidance to help students locate resources and use research techniques. Develop strategic plans to meet School Library Program Standards and Guidelines for Texas. Act as an educational leader, consultant, and change agent in curriculum development, collaborating with teachers on material use and scheduling. Model ethical resource use and teach students about responsible internet and digital resource use. Promote ongoing learning opportunities for students and staff, fostering connections and participation. Supervise Media Assistants, student aides, and handle multiple interruptions and multitasking under pressure. Manage library resources and facilities, including budgeting, purchasing, scheduling, and supervising. Encourage high circulation and inter-library loan to support information access. Integrate research and information processing skills to prepare students for higher education and lifelong learning. Collaborate with the community to promote shared goals. Comply with legal and policy requirements. Evaluate and improve the library/media center program based on statistical reports and findings. Engage in professional development and maintain awareness of industry trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a directly related field with valid Texas Library certification, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Two years minimally as a highly qualified teacher; bilingual skills a plus.
  • Working knowledge of library and information science.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and manage students in a varied environment.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
  • Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.

Minimum Salary: $57,207.00
Median Salary: $71,516.00
