Media Paraprofessional for Gainesville Middle School West for 2026-2027 School Year

Essential Job Functions

• Aid students in locating reference and other instructional materials to facilitate their use of the media center resources.
• Support reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, media, and other skills through reinforcement activities.
• Maintain circulation desk operations and circulation files.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning.
• Operate audio visual equipment as needed.
• Participate in cataloging and filing of learning materials.
• Create, copy, distribute, and utilize educational materials.

Additional Duties

Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Equipment

• Utilize and maintain instructional and non-instructional equipment, including a personal computer if necessary.
• Use standard office equipment such as personal computers and copiers.

Communication Requirements

• Report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
• Show effective writing and communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Carry out instructions provided in written or oral form.
• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and perform complex arithmetic operations.
• Work with a diverse group of individuals.
• Maintain confidentiality of student, employee, and other information.
• Follow directives from teachers, media specialists, or other supervisors, and assist students with instructional and non-instructional tasks.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others contacted in the course of work.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

Works in standard office and school building environments.

Qualifications Profile

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to: High School diploma or equivalent. Prior experience working with children is desirable.
