About the role
OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION (ONC) is a nonpartisan media outlet run largely by student interns, seeking 3‑4 volunteers with real media experience to help manage the media department, mentor interns, and possibly serve as director or assistant director. - Assist with recruiting, team building, and team management.
- Provide media production expertise (podcast engineering, social media posting, video editing, graphic design, creative direction, etc.).
- Offer creative ideas that students can follow and oversee student team leaders.
- Commit to approximately 5‑8 hours of volunteer work per week for one year.
- Attend the standing team meeting every Tuesday at 6:30 EST (subject to possible earlier shift); meetings run about 40 minutes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in media production tasks such as podcast engineering, social media management, video editing, graphic design, or creative direction.
- Ability to generate creative ideas that students can implement.
- Availability to attend the weekly Tuesday meeting at 6:30 EST (or adjusted time) and to dedicate 5‑8 hours per week.

Benefits
- Gain outstanding experience working with a national student‑run media organization.
- Help develop America’s future leaders and contribute to a trusted, nonpartisan source of political information.
- Potential for future part‑time compensation if the organization raises funds, with the possibility of the role evolving into a paid position.
Schedule
Volunteer commitment: 5‑8 hours per week, including a standing meeting every Tuesday at 6:30 EST (approximately 40 minutes), with the possibility of moving the meeting earlier by a few hours. The expected duration is one year.
Pay
Currently a volunteer position; if fundraising succeeds, the intent is to start paying participants at least on a part‑time basis, making this a potential pathway to paid work.
