About the role
A savvy journalist is needed to help develop and implement a media strategy for lipedema, a condition affecting approximately 1 in 50 women. The role will focus on raising awareness about the disease, which is now widely covered by insurance but still faces significant barriers to care due to insurer practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive media strategy to increase public understanding and advocacy for lipedema
- Research and write articles, op-eds, and other content to inform the public and healthcare professionals
- Coordinate with key stakeholders including patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to ensure accurate and impactful messaging
- Monitor media coverage and adjust strategies as necessary to maximize reach and impact
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field
- Proven track record of writing and publishing articles on health and medical topics
- Experience in developing and executing media strategies
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Knowledge of lipedema and its impact on women's health
- Understanding of the current state of insurance coverage and reimbursement for lipedema treatments
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
