About the role
The Media Center Coordinator manages the library at South Side Elementary, providing a rich environment for students, faculty, and staff to access a wide range of materials and resources.
Responsibilities
- Operates and supervises the library.
- Selects, orders, catalogs, and classifies general and special collections.
- Furnishes information on library activities, facilities, rules, and services.
- Maintains a comprehensive and efficient cataloging system and instructs teachers and students on its use.
- Affords assistance in selecting books and other instructional materials for teachers and informs them about new acquisitions.
- Supports faculty by making library materials accessible to enhance the instructional program.
- Assists students with research problems and educates them on the use of library resources.
- Prepares and administers the library budget.
- Promotes proper behavior among students using library facilities.
- Enters information into a computer to store or search for selected material.
- Trains other workers in locating, filing, or copying selected material.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma.
- Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
- Skills in human relations.
- Good work habits.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Other qualifications as determined by the School Board.
