About the role
The primary role of the Medication Tech is to administer medications and provide direct care to residents.
Responsibilities
- Pass medications according to physician orders, delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in accordance with facility policy
- Administer medications accurately and timely; record medications administered in the resident’s record
- Notify the pharmacy (or family when applicable) when medications need to be refilled
- Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room
- Monitor and report any/all side effects of medications to the Director of Health Services
- Obtain/provide shift report; record sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders
- Follow comprehensive care plans related to medication administration based on each resident’s needs and their comprehensive assessment
- Assist with medical appointments, communicate with healthcare providers, and advocate for the residents’ needs
- Observe residents for changes in health, report concerns to medical professionals, and monitor vital signs
- Document information pertaining to changes in residents’ status, personal needs, and communications with outside providers in the electronic medical record
- Complete accident and incident reports in a timely manner and according to facility policy
- Perform delegated nursing services as assigned by the RN
- Participate in in-service education programs as assigned
- Promptly report changes in resident conditions to the Director of Health Services; follow written and oral directions
- Perform all duties in an effective, cooperative, timely and professional manner
- Be responsible for the safety of residents under their supervision
- Work cooperatively with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel, community agencies, and ancillary service providers
- Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor
Requirements
- Experience as a Caregiver and Medication Tech in a Memory Care Unit and/or Assisted Living Facility
- Ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment
- Ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Card
- Experience in electronic medical records documentation
- Must be 18 years or older
- Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests

Schedule
- NOC shift (10 pm – 6 am)
- Various schedule; weekend availability needed
Pay
- $19.70 – $25.70/hr DOE
- Perfect attendance bonus: $100 per pay period for full-time employees, $75 for part-time employees
