Responsibilities

  • Assess the needs of each patient (adult and geriatric) using the Nursing Process.
  • Plan nursing care to meet spiritual, emotional, and physiological needs.
  • Carry out the Plan of Care through patient care activities, including:
    • IV lines, catheters, feeding tubes, nasal gastric tubes, enemas
    • Hygiene needs, dressing changes, blood glucose monitoring
    • O2 setups, telemetry, decubitus care, monitoring of vital signs
    • Assisting with activities of daily living
  • Administer IV and oral medications.
  • Manage admission and discharge of patients, including patient and family teaching.
  • Prepare patients for surgery.
  • Respond to codes and emergencies.
  • Perform quality control tasks:
    • Count narcotics, check physician orders, update patient charts
    • Copy transfer papers, check daily weights, monitor intake/output
    • Provide accurate report of patient’s condition to oncoming shift
  • Notify Supervisor, Physician, and family of changes in patient condition.

The average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensed and current registration as a Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • New graduates must sit for boards and submit for IL licensure within 6 months of hire.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Clinical experience preferred but not required.
  • Good working knowledge of the nursing process and strong nursing practice skills, including physical assessment skills.

Schedule

May be required to work any day of the week, including holidays and weekends.

Shift: 7:00 am - 7:30 pm
