Med/Surg Night shift PCT

About the role

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician in our Med/Surg unit. Full Time Nights 7P-7A rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care
• Support independent and dependent activities of daily living
• Measure vital signs
• Assist with mobility and ambulation
• Perform phlebotomy
• Conduct point of care testing
• Perform EKG testing
• Remove peripheral IVs
• Collect specimens
• Insert and remove foley catheters
• Comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse
• Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions
• Document observations in a timely and accurate manner
• Report any changes to the nurse or medical staff

Requirements

• Education: HS Diploma or Equivalent GED (Required)
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire (Required)
• One of the following programs is acceptable for education:
  • Graduate of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
  • Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
  • Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
  • Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
  • Current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT)
  • Current work experience within the last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant
• Experience: one year previous healthcare experience (Preferred)

Pay

The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
