Med Surg LPN/LVN
About the role
The licensed vocational/practical nurse medical surgical assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
- Aware of physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition
- Collections, analyzes, and interprets data and information from health care members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses
- Documents the patient’s plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions
- Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirements
- Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard
- Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment
- Documents patient’s response to nursing and other interventions
- Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs of and assigned unit/floor including establishing priorities
- Maintains a safe and effective environment and equipment
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Requirements
- Current Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse License in state practicing
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understands patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Computer proficiency required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
