Med/Surg Charge Nurse

About the role

Lead Charge RN responsible for managing nursing activities on a designated shift within specialized inpatient units such as Surgical, Acute Medicine, or NeuroSciences.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient care from hospitalization through discharge.
• Develop and implement complex individualized care plans.
• Lead interdisciplinary collaboration to improve patient outcomes.
• Act as a clinical resource, assess patient data proactively, and ensure adherence to evidence-based practices.
• Address care gaps, enhance patient satisfaction, and support safety protocols.
• Engage in practice advancement activities such as journal clubs, practice changes, and community education.
• Evaluate care quality and patient experience, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
• Lead unit activities, coordinate care, mentor staff, and ensure safety.
• Promote evidence-based practices and support organizational standards.
• Contribute to quality and patient satisfaction initiatives.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of med/surg bedside nursing experience.
• BSN preferred.
• Active RN licensure is mandatory.
• Leadership ability, critical thinking, and strong communication skills.
• Experience in high-acuity settings and familiarity with multidisciplinary teams are advantageous.
