Med Ex Student Intern

About the role

The MedEx student internship is a work-based internship designed to provide patient care experience in a clinical setting, under the appropriate clinical supervision, after successfully completing the prerequisite courses in the Health Science Education Program of Study. The student is a high school senior selected to participate in the MedEx program in either Cabell or Wayne County. The student chooses a health career pathway for in-depth study for a Patient Care Technician or a Medical Assistant. The student intern will be part of the patient care team in the designated clinical location.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care activities under supervision
• Learn and apply skills related to the chosen health career pathway
• Participate in patient care team activities

Requirements

• Successfully complete prerequisite courses in the Health Science Education Program of Study
• Be a high school senior
• Selected to participate in the MedEx program in either Cabell or Wayne County
• Choose a health career pathway for in-depth study (Patient Care Technician or Medical Assistant)
