About the role
Sceye is a high-growth technology company developing next-generation communications, imaging, and remote sensing infrastructure using stratospheric platforms. The Mechatronics Engineer for Launch Systems will design and integrate electromechanical release interfaces for HAPS launches.
Responsibilities
- Electromechanical Release Interface: Own the design and integration of the electrical-to-mechanical interface responsible for HAPS release from the launch system.
- Electronics Rework & Reliability Audit: Rework and harden existing launch electronics, audit for failure modes, and establish qualification and acceptance test criteria.
- Sensor Integration & Data Input: Integrate and validate sensors for launch events, develop signal processing logic, and improve wireless communication.
- Launch Dynamics Simulation: Build and validate simulation models of launch motions and forces.
- HAPS Assembly Support: Participate in HAPS vehicle assembly and provide launch system expertise during integration.
Requirements
- B.S. in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in electromechanical systems design, hardware bring-up, or embedded systems integration.
- Hands-on PCB rework and electronics troubleshooting experience.
- Experience integrating sensors and familiarity with RF/wireless communication systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with separation systems, pyrotechnic or electromechanical release mechanisms, or aerospace GSE.
- Familiarity with dynamics modeling or multibody simulation.
- Prior experience in launch, range, or field operations environments.
- Exposure to lighter-than-air, stratospheric, or HAPS vehicle programs.
