Responsibilities

  • Perform root cause analysis.
  • Assist with damage assessment and origin and cause investigations.
  • Prepare field notes, feasibility studies, cost analyses, and specifications.
  • Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.
  • Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings and prepare materials related to presentations.
  • Manage and mentor other design team members.
  • Perform peer reviews and condition assessments, including rough order of magnitude cost estimating.

Requirements

  • Degree (Master’s preferred) in mechanical or chemical engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working in industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working in the forensic engineering industry.
  • Professional Engineer License required.
  • Able and willing to travel within the US and internationally.
  • Proficiency in advanced analysis modeling such as FEA and CFD a plus.

About the role

The RoleWe have an immediate opportunity for a Vice President–level Mechanical or Process Engineer to lead and grow our industrial forensic practice in Houston, TX. In this role, you’ll apply your expertise in forensic investigation, litigation support, insurance claim response, and hazard analysis while helping shape the future of a growing practice. You will lead and remain hands-on in investigations involving existing equipment, systems, and processes within manufacturing and industrial environments. These investigations may include origin and cause analysis, scope of damage and claims evaluation, and technical delay or damages assessments. As a senior member of the team, you’ll provide technical direction and thoughtful review of work produced by junior-level staff, as well as collaborate with other project managers on interdisciplinary efforts. Beyond project execution, you’ll play a key role in setting the strategic direction for the industrial forensic group in Houston, support marketing and business development initiatives, and build and maintain meaningful client relationships as the practice continues to expand.
