Mechanical Technician Senior Second Shift – Millennium Space Systems

Responsibilities
- Assembles, installs, tests, checks out and inspects mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures
- Performs second party verifications and visually inspects mechanical assemblies to drawings, engineering specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures
- Operates various materials handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lift equipment, flight vehicle and sub-assembly transportation equipment, truck/tractor trailer combinations and other GSE as required
- Operates a wide range of machine tools. Included but not limited to, drill press, grinders, chop saw, power, and hand tools
- Interfaces and/or works closely with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Procurement and Shipping personnel on procedural issues involving design, methods, tooling, cost, and other areas involved in the control of product quality
- Supports in other mechanical areas defined by Millennium Space Systems Leadership as business needs require
- Cross-trains/mentors new hires
Requirements
Position is 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Shift: This position is primarily 2nd shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives. Candidates must be able to work any shift assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- More than 5 years of experience with Structures Assembly, Mechanical Assembly, Electrical Assembly, and/or Final Assembly
- More than 3 years of experience following written and verbal work instructions
- More than 3 years of experience in working with blueprints, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures
- More than 3 years of experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators
- More than 3 years of experience working with at least one of the following materials (Adhesives; Composites; Epoxy; Fabrics; Honeycomb Core; Laminates/plastics; Resins)
- Ability to stand and move (reach, bend, or stoop) to handle products for extended periods of time with only short breaks
- Capable of lifting 20lbs or more on a frequent basis
Preferred Qualifications
- More than 3 years of experience using structures hand tools, test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers
- More than 3 years of experience using all the following Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- More than 3 years of experience working in at least a 100,000 Class Clean Room environment
- More than 5 years of experience building a variety of component-level space products (e.g. avionics boxes, batteries, mechanisms, optics, printed circuit board assemblies, solar arrays, etc.)
- More than 5 years of experience with mechanical trouble shooting, disassembly and repair

Pay & Benefits
- Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
- Summary Pay Range: $29.42 - $47.09
Security Clearance
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
