About the Role

The primary function of the Mechanic II is to perform all tasks and duties in a safe manner as trained by plant management per EHS direction for site policies and OSHA standards. The ideal candidate will have advanced troubleshooting skills to diagnose and solve daily machine issues, support medium and long-term expense and capital development projects, and possess general mechanical expertise with an understanding of critical systems and equipment specific to the plant. This role involves extensive interaction with production and maintenance teams to enhance day-to-day plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize or have a working knowledge of the following skill sets and equipment:
    • Pneumatics and Hydraulics
    • Pipe Fitting
    • Welding
    • Pumps
    • Machinery Drives
  • Operate and maintain plant utilities, including water, oil, natural gas, compressed air, and fire protection systems.
  • Use mechanical tools, hand tools, battery-operated tools, and electric-driven tools safely and effectively.
  • Maintain awareness of safety hazards in an industrial facility and practice safe work habits.
  • Use computer systems such as Maximo and navigate basic Windows applications.
  • Interact cooperatively with peers, supervisors, and managers in a team-oriented manner.
  • Maintain and enhance housekeeping and safety in the work environment.
  • Assist with millwright work, such as aligning pumps and motors using dial indicators or laser systems.
  • Install sheaves, belts, align equipment, and check for squareness and belt tension with minimal assistance.
  • Install and perform maintenance on bearings.
  • Troubleshoot daily machine issues and support medium and long-term expense and capital development projects.
  • Mentor less-experienced mechanics and collaborate with production and maintenance teams.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned, including "on-call" duty when trained.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
  • Able to lift and handle up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to climb and work at elevated heights.
  • Able to learn and use computer software, including Maximo CMMS.
  • Able to work around chemicals and environments present in Shingle and Nonwoven Plants.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Pay

Base Hourly Rate: $34.45
