About the role

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Technician II to join our team and play a key role in maintaining the reliability of our pipeline systems. In this role, you will work with a variety of mechanical equipment, respond to operational needs, and contribute to a safety-first culture all while supporting essential energy delivery. Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and timely repairs on pipeline system equipment to minimize downtime and throughput loss.
  • Maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot mechanical systems including pumps, valves, mixers, seals, motors, fans, and measurement equipment.
  • Ensure all work complies with regulatory requirements, company O&M procedures, and DOT regulations.
  • Develop and execute lock-out/tag-out procedures and open-system job plans to ensure safe maintenance practices.
  • Respond as a first responder during emergency situations and participate in required safety and technical training programs, including OQ certifications.
  • Use maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo) to document work, track equipment history, and support planning activities.
  • Collaborate with technicians, supervisors, and operations teams to plan, schedule, and execute maintenance and improvement work efficiently.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in industrial mechanical maintenance
  • Excellent trouble shooting ability
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license & good driving record
  • Must live (or relocate) within 25 miles of the reporting location

Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved mechanical apprenticeship program or 2 year mechanical technical/vocational degree (preferred)
  • Experience in maintenance of crude oil pipeline, tank farm or delivery facilities or certified technical designation (preferred)
  • Familiarity with pertinent equipment (pumps, motors, valves, switchgear, programmable logic controls, motor control centers and instrumentation) (preferred)

Pay

Salary: Ranges from $29.25 to $41.00 USD per hour for US locations based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity.

Schedule

  • Available for emergency call via mobile phone, or home phone 24 hours a day
  • Periodically designated as on-call technician for a week at a time
  • 75% field mechanical maintenance work and 25% field office work
  • Occasional work in extreme cold and extreme heat
  • Must be able to physically perform heavy manual work including climbing storage tanks and lifting up to 50lbs
  • Work often required in high noise level areas and areas where vapor from crude oil and solvents may be present
  • Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record
  • Overnight travel of 10-40 days per year may be required
  • Primarily field oriented (outdoor) with specific office (indoor) functions for training, meetings and documentation of required tasks, dictated by Department of Transportation and other regulatory agencies
