About the role

A large industrial manufacturing operation in East Tennessee is seeking a Mechanical Technical Specialist to support maintenance and operations within a critical production area. This role focuses on hands‑on troubleshooting, mentoring skilled trades, and driving long‑term equipment reliability and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems to restore production flow
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to craft and maintenance employees
  • Serve as direct technical support to the maintenance organization
  • Respond to equipment issues and trouble calls as part of a shared 24/7 support structure
  • Analyze equipment behavior and recurring issues to identify root causes and long‑term solutions
  • Support outage planning, downtime execution, and follow‑up on maintenance actions
  • Assist with justification, specification, and coordination of equipment rebuilds, repairs, and upgrades
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
  • Apply lean manufacturing and structured problem‑solving methods to improve equipment performance
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and engineering to resolve technical issues
  • Support process engineering efforts related to mechanical equipment and systems
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and operational standards

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with industrial mechanical systems
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
  • 5 or more years of experience supporting mechanical systems in an industrial environment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and operating equipment
  • Experience performing product or process failure analysis
  • Familiarity with reliability and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Exposure to combustion or gas‑fired systems
  • Strong maintenance background with hands‑on equipment experience
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work across departments and with cross‑functional teams
  • Proficiency with standard computer and office tools

Pay

Salary: $75,000 - $110,000 per year
