About the role
A large industrial manufacturing operation in East Tennessee is seeking a Mechanical Technical Specialist to support maintenance and operations within a critical production area. This role focuses on hands‑on troubleshooting, mentoring skilled trades, and driving long‑term equipment reliability and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems to restore production flow
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to craft and maintenance employees
- Serve as direct technical support to the maintenance organization
- Respond to equipment issues and trouble calls as part of a shared 24/7 support structure
- Analyze equipment behavior and recurring issues to identify root causes and long‑term solutions
- Support outage planning, downtime execution, and follow‑up on maintenance actions
- Assist with justification, specification, and coordination of equipment rebuilds, repairs, and upgrades
- Participate in and support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
- Apply lean manufacturing and structured problem‑solving methods to improve equipment performance
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and engineering to resolve technical issues
- Support process engineering efforts related to mechanical equipment and systems
- Adhere to all safety, quality, and operational standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with industrial mechanical systems
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
- 5 or more years of experience supporting mechanical systems in an industrial environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and operating equipment
- Experience performing product or process failure analysis
- Familiarity with reliability and continuous improvement methodologies
- Exposure to combustion or gas‑fired systems
- Strong maintenance background with hands‑on equipment experience
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work across departments and with cross‑functional teams
- Proficiency with standard computer and office tools

Pay
Salary: $75,000 - $110,000 per year
