deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL. Position Description Become a part of something IMPACT-ful! Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nation's defense against ballistic missile attacks. The GMD Weapon System (GWS) processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat. The selected Engineer responsibilities will include the support of the Ground Weapons System (GWS) program as an individual contributor on the HWE environmental team. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance of the GWS system design with hardware requirements, through equipment evaluation and design guidance and analysis products. This role directly supports the design and development of the GWS capability on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, collaborative/teams comprised of all experience levels. Due to the nature of the role, this is not offered as a teleworking or hybrid position. Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 years of related experience, or a Master's STEM degree and 1 years of related experience, or 0 years of experience with a PhDAbility to travel at least 10%Recent design experience using a 3D CAD Package such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NXExperience drafting & reviewing 2D mechanical drawings per ASME standardsPrior experience with engineering PLM systems such as Teamcenter and MRP system such as SAPExperience in evaluating vendor documents to ensure specifications and datasheet meets requirementsFamiliarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1366, MIL-STD-1472, ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.100, MIL-STD-31000, MIL-STD-461Experience evaluating commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and military parts for compliance to meet requirementsProficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Team, and PowerPoint Special Skills Desired Understanding and application of industry engineering technical standards; demonstrated experience in structural design and impact assessmentsExperience with Agile or Kanban workflow, including tools such as JiraFamiliarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Core Standards: MDA-QS-001-MAP, MDA-QS-003-PMAP, MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS (ETR Process)Familiarity with the GMD domain and GMD Launch Support Systems hardwarePassion for fast-paced environments Applicant selected must have an active Secret security clearance.
