Mechanical Supervisor (Electrical)
Description
Supervises and coordinates the activities of staff in the installation, repair, maintenance and preventive maintenance of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, controls and exhaust systems and their sub-systems. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and coordinates the work duties of staff, providing work direction and inspecting work in progress and completed work.
- Reviews work orders and coordinates work to be performed with customers on campus.
- Develops work schedules and provides technical assistance and direction to staff.
- Counsels and evaluates staff, making recommendations on promotions, new hires, and terminations.
- Assures an adequate inventory of tools, equipment and supplies to achieve unit objectives.
- Prepares and maintains personnel and payroll records such as timesheets; prepares recurring management reports.
- Makes recommendations for the allocation of resources.
- May be considered essential personnel and may be assigned to serve on special task force during periods of emergency.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- The Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.
- Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
- Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job, as specified on a job description addendum.
