Duties And Responsibilities

Oversee the management of mechanical construction activities and task assignments for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.

Collaborate with project management and other departments to ensure all required materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.

Budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and general working environment.

Ensure construction documents, drawings, and specifications are reviewed for completeness, constructability, and field execution requirements.

Create, review, and update project schedules and three-week look ahead scheduling.

Lead the creation, review, and update of project schedules and three-week look ahead scheduling.

Oversee mechanical installation activities including solar tracker systems, racking systems, module installation, and other related mechanical scopes.

Develop and implement site utilization plans and establish crew sizes to support project requirements.

Drive effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings.

Monitor productivity, installation progress, and work quality to ensure mechanical activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.

Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions as needed.

Implement Herzog’s Safety Without Compromise.

Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and field teams to resolve installation issues and maintain project schedule.

Ensure mechanical work is completed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and client expectations.

Develop relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders to support successful project execution.

Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.

Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum 10 years of construction management or related experience.

Experience managing mechanical construction activities for utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects preferred.

Experience managing large crews and multiple construction activities simultaneously.

Strong understanding of solar mechanical systems including tracker installation, racking systems, and module installation processes.

Knowledge of construction safety, quality, scheduling, and planning processes.

Microsoft Office skills.

Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills.

Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback.

Ability to travel up to 100%.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.

Maintain a valid driver's license and endorsements as required per position.

Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.

Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements

Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.

Able to walk on uneven surfaces.

Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.

Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.

Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.

Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.

Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.

Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
