Mechanical Sub-System Engineer
About the role
As a Mechanical Sub-System Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the research, development, and life-cycle support of our next-generation Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs), gensets, and auxiliary power units (APUs).
Working within a dynamic R&D environment, you will collaborate closely with senior engineers, technicians, and cross-functional global teams to drive the verification, validation, and continuous improvement of critical systems and components.
From initial concept through to production and field support, you will leverage advanced engineering tools, simulation, and hands-on test-cell data to optimize product quality and robustness.
This position is ideal for a proactive, results-driven engineer who is eager to quickly master new technologies, bridge the gap between design and testing, and make a tangible impact on global transport refrigeration solutions.
Role Responsibilities
- Perform subsystem design evaluation and verification activities including supplier component evaluation for TRU, genset, and auxiliary power unit (APU) applications.
- Create or modify technical documentation including functional specifications, technical requirements, qualification test plans, standard work and technical reports.
- Provide technical support to the global Sustaining Engineering Groups during their evaluation of engines, subsystems, or component field or test sample failures.
- Participate in component design reviews, prepare/present technical information to Carrier technical staff members.
- Interface with cross functional team members, international manufacturers, and engine subsystem suppliers from initial concept through production.
- Apply DFMEA and other robust engineering tools, tolerance analysis, simulation and statistical methods to improve robustness and quality of TRU and their components.
- Implement and support development testing activities, which would include daily interaction with Carrier Transicold test engineering department and component suppliers.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics)-related.
- 2+ years' combined experience from any of the following engineering functions: design, product development, components test validation / qualification, manufacturing or quality.

Additional Information
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the USA without restriction; employment sponsorship is not available.
Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $64,500.00 - $129,500.00 annually.
