About the role

Boardwalk is a limited partnership operating in the midstream portion of the natural gas and natural gas liquids industry, providing transportation and storage services for our customers. Our 14,000 miles of pipeline and storage assets provide diverse market connectivity to producers and end-users who need reliable sources of natural gas for power generation, home heating, or petrochemical feedstocks.

This position is responsible for regulatory compliance and the operation, maintenance, and repair of station equipment, including reciprocating and centrifugal natural gas compressors, air compressors, natural gas-fired engines, turbines, fluid separation equipment, valves, and related appurtenances. Responsibilities include following DOT regulations, industry standards, manufacturer recommendations, and BWP guidelines, as well as adhering to all BWP safety rules, environmental, and OSHA regulations.

The role will be located at our Bremen, KY Compressor Station and will operate in a scheduled rotation. The successful candidate will be required to reside within 30 miles of this facility.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment and lead repairs and maintenance of reciprocating natural gas-fired engines, turbines, and associated compressors, including overhauls and mechanical repairs.
  • Complete OMS database compliance and perform routine maintenance such as filter changes, cleaning and inspecting coolers, and periodic checks of components throughout the facility and engines/compressors (e.g., valves, shutdown devices, rod/bearing clearances, packing, piston clearances, lube oil samples, web deflections, cooling fans, emergency shutdown systems, fire/gas detection).
  • Monitor flows and operating conditions for assigned area.
  • Document maintenance and operational activities.
  • Respond to emergencies and may occasionally assist at other compressor stations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive, hands-on mechanical experience with natural gas engines and compressor equipment, including installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and/or overhaul of reciprocating and/or centrifugal compressors.
  • Mechanical knowledge of 2- and 4-stroke, slow and high-speed engines and compressors.
  • Mechanical knowledge of gas turbines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of personnel.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft programs, including Word and Excel, and familiarity with CMMS systems for maintenance documentation.
  • Valid Driver’s license and the ability to operate an all-terrain vehicle.
  • Strong commitment to personal and team safety.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Ability to read and comprehend manufacturer’s equipment manuals.
  • Good troubleshooting skills.
  • High School Diploma.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a minimum of 50 feet, operate valve control wheels with a minimum of 50 turns, and work alone in extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, muddy, and wet environments).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of mechanical experience with natural gas engines and compressors.
  • 5+ years of experience with Solar Gas Turbines.
  • Gas Pipeline Experience.
  • Compressor Station Experience.
  • Storage Field Experience.
  • Technical School or College education.

Schedule

Normal work hours for this position are 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. weekdays but are subject to change. This position is subject to occasional call-out and schedule adjustments as necessary.
