Mechanical Reliability Engineer

This role supports repair and quality activities for gas turbine components in a manufacturing environment. The engineer will analyze and resolve repair non-conformance notifications, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance processes, quality, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and resolve Repair Non-Conformance Notifications (NCNs) in a timely and high-quality manner.
  • Support the service center’s quality initiatives and ensure adherence to quality control standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Design, Supply Chain, and Advanced Manufacturing and Repair Technology, to address repair and process issues.
  • Recommend updates to Repair Engineering Instruction (REI) requirements for gas turbine components to improve repair processes and standards.
  • Manage repair qualifications for the service center, ensuring compliance with requirements and robust quality control.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to identify and address quality and process issues.
  • Engage in Kaizen and other continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and maintain high engineering standards.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating engineering processes, standard operating procedures, and documentation related to repair and manufacturing.
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to support gas turbine design, repair, manufacturing, and services.
  • Interpret and use mechanical and electrical drawings to support repair, qualification, and process development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Electrical, Computer Science, or related field) from an accredited university.
  • Foundation in mechanical engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience or relevant project-based learning in gas turbine design, repair, manufacturing, or services.
  • Knowledge of quality control practices and standard operating procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to conduct root cause failure analysis and participate in structured RCA investigations.
  • Experience working with non-conformance reports and related documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Self-motivated, open-minded approach with the ability to challenge existing thinking and take smart, calculated risks.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement (Lean) mindset and familiarity with Kaizen initiatives.

Skills

  • Academic or internship experience supporting gas turbine design, repair, manufacturing, or services.
  • Academic or hands-on experience in process development such as fixture development, machining (mills/EDMs), laser applications (cladding/ablation), joining/brazing, coating, or inspection technologies.
  • Understanding of advanced manufacturing and repair technologies for gas turbine components.
  • Ability to contribute to the development and refinement of repair engineering instructions and qualifications.
  • Strong communication skills to support an inclusive and collaborative team environment.
  • Empowered mindset to dream big, innovate, and drive improvements in processes and quality.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing environment working with world-class equipment, tools, and resources dedicated to gas turbine repair and related processes. The engineer will collaborate with a broader, inclusive team focused on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $38.50 - $43.50/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
