We are looking for a Mechanical R&D Engineer II – Bioprocessing Product Development to join our Single-Use Technologies team in Logan, Utah.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute across the product development lifecycle and have the opportunity to see your engineering work progress from an idea to a commercialized product.
  • Own mechanical designs from concept through commercialization, including early concepts, prototypes, testing, validation, and production.
  • Design mechanical hardware, components, and flexible systems for single-use bioprocessing applications.
  • Translate customer and product requirements into practical, scalable engineering solutions.
  • Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design-for-manufacturing and assembly principles.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses to guide design decisions.
  • Build and evaluate prototypes and support verification and validation testing.
  • Identify technical risks using tools such as FMEA and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Investigate product and design issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with electrical, systems, manufacturing, quality, and other engineering teams to integrate complete solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews and help guide technical decisions.
  • Contribute ideas that improve our products, processes, and ways of working.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant product development, hardware, mechanical, or systems engineering experience.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo/ProE, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and fundamental mechanical design principles.
  • Experience applying engineering calculations and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Understanding of common manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and business functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10–20%.

Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas would be valuable:
  • Aerospace or defense product development.
  • Medical devices or other regulated products.
  • Laboratory equipment or scientific instrumentation.
  • Automation or electromechanical equipment.
  • Advanced manufacturing.
  • Bioprocessing or single-use technologies.
  • PDM/PLM systems.
  • Verification and validation.
  • FDA- or ISO-regulated quality systems.
  • FMEA, root-cause analysis, and engineering change control.
  • Design for manufacturability, assembly, and serviceability.

Skills

  • Experience in mechanical design and prototyping.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
  • Understanding of common manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborative problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
