About the role
Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) is seeking a Mechanical QA/QC Agent to join our Mission Critical team. This role is available in Texas, Georgia, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Arizona.
Responsibilities
- Resolve quality control challenges and complete tasks assigned
- Develop and implement quality control process delivery plans based on information outlined in the owner’s project requirements, basis of design, design and construction documents, as well as information gathered from users and project partners, field surveys, specifications, shop drawings, and code research
- Carry out appropriate follow-through with others, mentoring, delegating work, and giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Deliver a daily report detailing completed tasks or inspections and adeptly provide information regarding issues supported by codes or standards
- Perform periodic site walks to ensure adherence to procedures and best practices, including assisting general contractors and their site superintendents with inspections as required
- Onsite expectation 100% if placed on a site within the region. When required on a site out of the region, travel of 75% will be expected
Requirements
- Technical or associate degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, engineering, or construction management from an accredited technical institution, college, or commensurate design or field experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in mechanical service or mechanical equipment testing
- A minimum of two (2) years in mission critical and a minimum of two (2) years in the hyperscale space
- Functional knowledge of building systems across disciplines, including HVAC, fire protection, technology, instrumentation and controls, and processes
- Expertise in state-of-the-art critical systems, including building monitoring systems, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, RTUs, pumps, and fans
- Fundamental knowledge of commissioning processes and commissioning process delivery of applicable equipment
- Fundamental knowledge of construction processes and project delivery models
- Knowledge and understanding of electrical codes, standards, specifications, and shop drawings with the ability to interpret them
- Proficiency in utilizing applicable technologies, including computer/software, data loggers, and test and measurement equipment
- Valid driver’s license and state-required vehicle insurance

- General understanding of the resources required to complete specific types of projects
- Ability to anticipate inspections and to effectively delegate and balance workload among team members
- Communicates well with clients, project partners, and individuals at all organizational levels
- Ability to apply safety training to specific construction situations and avoid unsafe work environments
- Ability to safely operate and instruct others in test and measurement equipment and common tools use
- Strong spoken and written communication skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Quick technical comprehension and motivation focused on client outcomes
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Effective working individually and within team environments
Skills
- Procore, CxAlloy, or BIM360 experience is a plus
