Mechanical Project Engineer
Description
The Mechanical Project Engineer at Smurfit Westrock is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and executing capital engineering projects within specific project scope, budget, and target schedule. This role involves coordinating multiple disciplines including Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering Firms, Vendors, and Contractors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Structural/Civil Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing with Pulp & Paper experience preferred but not required
- Project management experience, PMP Certification a plus but not required
- Excellent trouble shooting skills with a demonstrated continuous improvement mindset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills such as building close working relationships and minimizing conflicts through collaboration and consensus building
- JDE Experience Preferred
- Drafting and CAD (AutoCAD) training/experience
- Experience in four or more of the following areas: Sizing and selection of various mechanical equipment, Rotating equipment, Process instrumentation systems, Process design, Structural analysis, Mechanics, Machine Design, Fluid flow systems
- Supports safety and environmental compliance
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Structural/Civil Engineering and 10+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing with Pulp & Paper experience. Project management experience and PMP Certification are preferred but not required. Excellent trouble shooting skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills are essential. JDE Experience, drafting and CAD (AutoCAD) training/experience, and experience in multiple areas of mechanical engineering are beneficial.
